LeFavour Kickoff Celebration

LaFavour for CongressSenator Nicole LeFavour, Candidate for U.S. House, is running in Idaho’s second congressional district which encompasses Idaho Falls, Salmon, Pocatello, Burley, Ketchum, Twin Falls and Mountain Home as well as North Boise, North East Boise, the Boise Bench and Columbia Village areas.

Locally the LeFavour Campaign welcomes the public to join her on Sunday, May 6th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at Station Square 202 South Main in Old Town Pocatello.

For more information or to donate, volunteer or become involved with the campaign, please visit http://4idaho.org/ Nicole is also active on Facebook and Twitter.

A teacher and former small business owner, LeFavour, grew up on a ranch in Custer County near Challis and has served eight years in the Idaho legislature. LeFavour has been a leading voice for education on the state’s budget committee where she has worked to fund smaller class sizes and reduce property taxes, ensuring strong state support for public schools. Over her career, LeFavour has worked on an array of consumer protection issues.

Her economic plan would ensure the state is not just exporting raw materials but building processing facilities so Idaho farmers can once again produce food for American families.

“Although I don’t love political parties, I’m a Democrat because Democrats care about working people, families and small businesses. We believe in communities and that people can pull together to overcome great obstacles. We believe a strong public education system and a more affordable college education are the foundations of the American dream.

The campaign drew statewide attention when LeFavour raised nearly $60,000 from individual donors in two weeks, more than LeFavour’s opponent raised from individual donors in the entire reporting period.

“After eight years in the Idaho legislature standing up for families, small businesses, children and seniors, I know that our nation’s job creators are not millionaires or giant corporations but small businesses and regular working people. Americans create jobs when they can afford their doctor bills and can replace a broken washing machine, buy clothes for their children, fix the car, afford a home or college degree.

Selecting a Presidential candidate is always exciting, and we look forward to gathering with Democrats throughout Bannock County to gear up for the 2012 elections. Together, we can help give President Obama a second term.
