Bannock County Democrats’ election for Districts 28 & 29 Chairs to be held on Tuesday, May 9th

The Idaho Democratic Party’s bylaws state that an election must be held within 30 days of a vacancy of a District Legislative Chair. As we have lost the Legislative Chairs in Districts 28 and 29 in the last month, we are required to hold an election to select new Chairs.

IDP State Chair Bert Marley will conduct that election on Tuesday, May 9th, 7:00 p.m. at the headquarters of the Bannock Democratic Party, 355 Yellowstone Ave. in Pocatello.

Because only precinct captains are allowed to vote, all precinct captains are encouraged to attend. If a precinct captain is unable to attend, the precinct deputy, if there is one, is the automatic proxy. If there is not a precinct deputy, the precinct captain may give their signed proxy, stating the date of the meeting, to any other eligible Democrat within their Legislative District. Eligibility is defined as being at least 18 years old and reside in the District where the vacancy occurred.

Nominations will be made from the floor and the elections will be conducted according to the IDP Bylaws. Any Democrats living in District 28 or 29 and interested in running for your district's chair position, please be sure to attend.

If you have any questions, please contact the Bannock County Democrats via email at bannockdemocrats@gmail.com or call (208) 234-8908.
