Southern Smoke - 6th Annual BCDP/ IDWC Summer Picnic

July 28, 2017

You're invited to join us for the 6th Annual Summer Picnic fundraiser co-hosted by the Bannock County Democrats and the Idaho Democratic Women's Caucus. In keeping with this year's theme of SOUTHERN SMOKE, we'll hold the 1st annual smoked meat contest between 5 or 6 invited chefs, with the winner taking home what will become a traveling trophy! The smoked meats (including beef, pork, chicken, and salmon) will be the highlight of our southern barbeque-style menu, which will also include homemade baked beans and potato salad, corn on the cob, rolls, watermelon, and sheet cake for dessert.

There will be a musical performance by recording artist Brody Fitch and information on candidates and important issues. We'll have experts speak about several related issues of particular importance to our community: the jail expansion, a new crisis center, substance abuse and behavioral health. Join us to hear about the plans in the works to address some of our most pressing problems. We'll also hear an update on what is happening with health care, nationally and in our state -- focusing on the need to move beyond the "smoke and mirrors" proposals to a real solution!

Come for the good food and good company and to help us raise money to get good Democrats elected. We need more Democrats who can THROW SMOKE, to replace those others who just BLOW SMOKE!!

Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $10 for students, and $5 for children 13 and under. Tickets are available for purchase online at Eventbrite, from Picnic Committee members (Linda Leeuwrik, Robert Poleki, Jared Stein, Doug Balfour, Pam Landon, George Chandler, Kathy Packard, Catalina Steckbauer, Jim Allen, and Rita Haggardt), from Bannock County's elected Democrats, and by contacting the Bannock County Democrats at 234-8908 or bannockdemocrats@gmail.com.
