Idaho Legislative Candidates
District 29
Idaho Senate: James D. Ruchti
James and his wife, Wendy, have been married since 1993. They spent the first few years of their marriage in Germany while James served in the military. When he wasn’t out in the field or deployed, they managed to travel all over Europe in their Nissan Pulsar (not a family-friendly car) with their brand-new baby, Spencer, along for the ride in his car seat. Upon returning to the States, they had another son, Drew, and their family was complete.
Idaho House Seat A: Mary Shea
Mary Shea's journey highlights the power of resilience, the importance of service, and the impact of values-based leadership. Throughout every challenge and decision, she has remained steadfast in advocating for justice, equality, and opportunity. Her vision for Idaho is one where these principles shape collective efforts to build a community that uplifts every resident. This vision is deeply influenced by her life experiences—overcoming adversity, embracing change, and dedicating herself to serving others.
Idaho House Seat B : Nate Roberts
Nate is running for re-election to Idaho State Representative in District 29, Pocatello, because he believes in the values that so many Idahoans share. He believes in the idea that hard work earns a fair opportunity, in viewing others as equals, and in serving my community because it is others’ home as much as it is ours. Too many legislators speak to these ideals without practicing them. Nate is committed to making them a reality.

Idaho Legislative Candidates
District 35
Idaho Senate : Chris Riley
Chris Riley is running because they believe the revocation of women’s reproductive rights is the greatest assault on personal freedom in their lifetime. Additionally, regardless of one's stance on national politics, Riley believes state government should serve its citizens, not cater to far-right interest groups pushing regressive policies. Banning books, in their view, does not make anyone more free, and taking away children’s lunches simply because they didn’t have to work for them is not promoting small government; it’s merely a performative act of cruelty.
Riley aims to refocus the legislature on keeping Idahoans free, fed, and educated.
Idaho House Seat A : Joseph Messerly
Joseph Messerly not only has a past in Idaho he also wants a future for him and his family in the Gem State too. The current state of Idaho politics is not something he feels he can sit back and watch any longer.
The divide in the current Republican Party is forcing some elected officials to choose between what is best for the citizens and the extreme far right factions of their party. Joseph Messerly feels no such pressure. His goal is to bring together both sides and put an end to the partisan politics.
Messerly believes there is more that unites us, than divides us.
Idaho House Seat B : Maggie Shaw
Maggie Shaw is running for Idaho House of Representatives for District 35 B. Maggie a former teacher, has been a longtime education advocate. As a former neuroscience research lab manager she developed fact based researched decision making skills. She supports our public lands and will champion women's healthcare.
